2014 Big Ten Schedule: Michigan to play Spartans in East Lansing two years in a row

Rutgers and Maryland entering the Big Ten this season has certainly changed the landscape of the conference, especially when it comes to rivalry play for the Michigan football team. With the revised schedule being released today, the Wolverines will now travel to East Lansing to play Michigan State this upcoming season as well as in 2014 marking the first time this has happened in the series’ 60 year history.Despite Michigan holding a 15-12-1record against Michigan State on the road, the Wolverines have lost their last two meetings at Spartan Stadium. In 2009 the Wolverines fell 26-20 and 28-14 in 2011 which was Brady Hoke’s first season as head coach.

To make matters worse Michigan will also have to travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State to close out this year’s regular season. Road tilts against the Spartans and Buckeyes is also a rarity for Michigan as it hasn’t happened since 1966.

The home schedule for Michigan now includes Minnesota, Penn State, Indiana and Maryland, along with out of conference match ups against Appalachian State, Miami (Ohio) and Utah.
