Kyle Meinke of AnnArbor.com outlined the top 5 questions facing new Michigan head coach Brady Hoke during the annual Big Ten meetings in Chicago.

1. How much shotgun will Michigan run on offense?

The Wolverines head into this season seemingly committed to Denard Robinson as their QB. The shotgun offense will still be an important part of the offense THIS season.

2. How long will it take to revitalize Michigan’s defense?

Finally Michigan has a respectable defensive coordinator in Greg Mattison that will be able to run HIS type of defense. As far as the Michigan defense goes they can only go upwards since last season was so bad under Greg Robinson and Rich Rodriguez.

3. Who will be Michigan’s featured back?

For the first time in a few years the Wolverines will presumably go with a featured back running the pro-style offense. Meinke believes that fans are going to have to keep on eye on Michael Shaw and Stephen Hopkins as fall camp begins to roll around. You can also bet that Denard Robinson will get his fair share of carries as well.

4. How much will Michigan’s field-goal kicking improve?

No more will the Wolverines will not have to go for it inside the 20 on 4th and 10. On-again, off-again starters Seth Broekhuizen and Brendan Gibbons unfortunately will be back with the team however true freshman Matt Wile will also be there. Now you have to figure that it’s just a matter of time before the three-star recruit who Scout.com ranks as the fourth best kicker in the country takes over full-time, if that hasn’t happen already.

5. Will receiver Darryl Stonum play for Michigan this season?

There are still plenty of questions on whether or not the senior starting wide out will play this season after getting arrested for the second time for operating a vehicle while visibly impaired. The last time Brady Hoke spoke of the situation he said he was still evaluating the situation after suspending the troubled wide out indefinitely.
