Michigan guard Nik Stauskas’ huge season continued Monday as the B1G named him the Player of the Week.
Stauskas shared the honor with Nebraska sophomore wing Shavon Shields however unlike Shields, and now unlike Trey Burke the sophomore guard has now won the award four times something Burke did three times.
This week though Stauskas earned himself the title once again after averaging 22.5 points in two wins against Indiana and the B1G regular season clincher against Illinois, something Michigan hasn’t done outright since 1986. In addition Stauskas was 8-of-13 in 3-pointers and 14-of-24 in total field goals for the week.
Aside though from the B1G Player of the Week award, Stauskas now has his eyes set on the B1G Player of the Year honor which will be announced tonight at 6PM ET on the Big Ten Network. A top candidate for the award Stauskas finished fourth in the conference for scoring averaging 17.4 points per game.
