Michigan rains three’s in 79-65 win over Texas, punches ticket to Sweet 16

It was raining three’s in Milwaukee as Michigan shoot 50 percent from beyond the arc in a 79-65 win over Texas.

Nik Stauskas had 17 points while four of the five Michigan starters scored in double figures as the Wolverines went 14/28 from three-point land and a total of 24/54 from the field. The only real blemish in the win was Michigan being somewhat ineffective in the paint getting out rebounded by the Longhorns 38-25.

Michigan now awaits the winner of No. 11 Tennessee or No. 14 Mercer.

Both of those teams though shouldn’t be taken lightly. Tennessee – who was a first four participant – made easy work of No. 6 UMass 86-67 in the Round of 64 while No. 14 Mercer scored a huge upset of No. 3 Duke 78-71.
