With Michigan’s regular season opener against Appalachian State on-tap for this Saturday at the Big House, Brady Hoke and the Wolverine coaching staff released the depth chart with a few notables.
First, the former five-star prospect Derrick Green gets the nod as the team’s starting running back with sophomore De’Veon Smith, Justice Hayes and Drake Johnson falling in behind. Green rushed for 270 yards and two touchdowns last season which may lead many to believe that the running back position for Michigan is still pretty undetermined for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile the Wolverines listed true freshman Mason Cole as the starting left tackle, sophomore Erik Magnuson at left guard, junior Jack Miller at center and sophomore Ben Braden at right tackle. This essentially means the right guard spot is still up for contention. Currently senior Joey Burzynski and sophomore Kyle Bosch are the co-starters at the position with sophomore Kyle Kalis (who missed some of camp with a back injury) listed as the No. 3.
