Tom Kowalski of Mlive.com reports that the Lions will appeal a tampering charge handed down to them earlier in the year.

The tampering charge stems from the Kansas City Chiefs claiming that the Lions tampered with players that were still on the Kansas City roster.

So what exactly was the tampering?

It really hasn’t been pin pointed but prior to last season Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham discussed his desire to bring defensive back Jarrad Page to Detroit. Page at the time played for the Chiefs.

Because the Lions were originally found guilty of tampering they had to give up their seventh round pick in this years draft as well as having to swap their fifth round pick with Kansas City.

Lions general manager Martin Mayhew wouldn’t comment on the tampering charge, appealing the tampering charge or any other questions relating to “Kansas City”

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he would address the situation as soon as he could.
