The Chicago White Sox announced Monday night that they’ve released manager Ozzie Guillen from his contract that had one-year left on it. This paves the way for Guillen to sign with the Marlins becoming their new manager in 2012. According to the White Sox, Guillen will not be in uniform for teams final two games and will receive compensation from another club if they hire him in 2012.

White Sox chairman Jerry Reinsdorf says he appreciates Guillen’s work and wishes him the best.

“We certainly cannot thank Ozzie enough for all he has done during his eight seasons as manager of the Chicago White Sox, highlighted by an unforgettable 2005 World Series championship,” he said.

According to Jon Paul Morosi’s Twitter page, Guillen expected to sign a three-year deal with the Marlins effective in 2012 after Jack McKeon retires from the team after the regular season this year.

Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com writes that Chicago will receive two minor league players from the Marlins as compensation however these prospect more than likely will not be coming from Florida’s 40 man roster.

Even though it appears that the Marlins have already decided on Guillen as their new manager, the Fish have conducted interviews with candidates that include third base coach Joe Espada, hitting coach Eduardo Perez and Nationals coach Bo Porter.

Guillen finishes his time with the White Sox going 678-617. This includes two playoff appearances, one World Series victory in 2005 and an ALDS loss to the Rays in 2008.
