The Pittsburgh Penguins have offered former NHL superstar Jaromir Jagr a one-year contract worth an undisclosed amount. This was confirmed by Penguins GM Ray Shero reports Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. It is expected that an answer from Jagr will come sometime on Wednesday.

“We feel from the information we have and after seeing at world championships, that he’s a guy who might be able to help us this coming season,” Shero said. “We feel he’s a guy who could help us this year, and retire as a Penguin.”

Shero also mentioned that he was unsure whether or not Jagr had any other offers on the table.

Detroit Red Wings GM Ken Holland has expressed interest in the veteran forward. It is also believed that the Montreal Canadians could also be interested in bringing Jagr aboard.

Nonetheless Pittsburgh looks will probably be hearing from Jagr’s camp very soon.
