According to Ansar Khan of Mlive.com and the Detroit Free Press, Wings forward Valtteri Filppula could give it a go tonight in Denver after being sidelined with a groin injury.
“I felt pretty good, hopefully it’s a go,” Filppula said. “I felt it a couple of times but nothing serious, so I’m pretty happy about it.’’
It appears like it will be a game time decision with Filppula however the Wings may choose to keep him out and not take any chances. After tonight the Wings play Friday night in Columbus so the extra time and rest may be beneficial.
“It’s definitely something you have to be careful with,” Filppula said. “It can go easily bad. It’s always risky when you come back, but it felt good now.’’
Here are the combinations that may go tonight against the Avalanche…
Franzen-Zetterberg-Holmstrom
Hudler-Filppula-Bertuzzi
Draper-Helm-Eaves
Miller-Abdelkader-Mursak/Tatar

Tatar will play if Filppula can’t go.
Lidstrom-Kronwall
Ericsson-Rafalski
Kindl-Salei

Howard (starting)
MacDonald

One final note, Khan wrote that Wings veteran goalie Chris Osgood flew out to Philadelphia to meet with specialist Dr. William Meyers about his injured groin. Wings GM Ken Holland said that the team should learn later today what Dr. Meyers’ recommendation is on whether or not Osgood will need surgery on the ailing groin.
