New Michigan head coach Brady Hoke is taking over a football team that was 15-22 overall, 6-18 in the Big Ten, the last three years under then head coach Rich Rodriguez.

However the new head coach doesn’t want to hear any talk about rebuilding.

During the annual Big Ten meetings in Chicago, Hoke had some strong comments about the Michigan football program and that term rebuilding.

“I don’t think we’re rebuilding, period,” Hoke said. “We’re Michigan. We’ve got kids who understand that they’re Michigan. I don’t put any stock into that (the suggestion U-M needs to rebuild).”

Hoke was also asked whether or not the Buckeye’s are wounded after a very troublesome off-season to say the least.

“No, I really don’t,” Hoke said. “That’s a tremendous program, a tremendous tradition, just like we have.

“When you have schools that have that quality about them and have those legacies, I don’t see anybody as wounded.”

As much as Hoke might like to think that Michigan isn’t rebuilding, the fact of the matter is they are and there’s nothing wrong with that given the coaching staff that was here before him.

You also really cannot say a lot about what Hoke is saying. He is obviously riling up the troops for the 2011 season. However Hoke may be setting himself up to where he HAS to have a good season his first year with the team.
