Brady Hoke: Harbaugh not a ‘home run’ hire for Michigan

Former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke appeared on Detroit Sports 105.1 Friday discussing a variety of topics including whether or not Jim Harbaugh was a ‘home run hire’ for the school.

It was an awkward question to answer, especially when you consider the guy doing the answering was the guy who that ‘home run hire’ was replacing. Either way Brady Hoke answered but stopped short of saying Harbaugh was that ‘home run’ guy for Michigan.

“Everyone has an opinion,” Hoke said. “I don’t know ever if there’s a home run hire, to be honest with you. I think that’s probably more mediaspeak than anything else and I guess I’m in the media, so I’ll be using that terminology. I think it’s a guy who, obviously, loves his school — seems to love it — and that’s where he wants to be. That’s all you can ask for.”

Now I’m not saying the question shouldn’t have been asked. It certainly makes for good radio, something 105.1 and their abysmal ratings certain need.

Hoke was also right in his assessment. If Michigan fans have learned anything it’s not to get too wrapped up in hype and let everything speak for itself on the football field.

Hoke was also asked about his firing this past offseason, the Shane Morris incident from last year, whether or not he still talks to David Brandon and if he’ll wear a headset at his new SiriusXM radio gig. Spoiler alert… he will.
