ESPN College GameDay host and Former U-M receiver and return specialist Desmond Howard spoke of his time and observations while attending Michigan’s scrimmage on Saturday.

“Denard (Robinson) seems faster,” Howard said. “I don’t know howthe kid did it, but he seems faster. I actually like him under center. It looks good to me. He seems more comfortable.”

Howard also offered his thoughts on Michigan’s backup Devin Gardner…

“Devin Gardner seems extremely comfortable. Both of them played pretty well. They made some good throws. They made some mistakes, but overall they played well.”

Howard furthermore gave kudos to Michigan’s defense, a piece of Michigan’s team that has come under fire during the regime of Rich Rodriguez…

“The defense, first and foremost, seemed to be in (correct) position in the scrimmage,” Howard said. “They were constantly in position and that’s a start. They were aggressive. They were flying to the ball.”

Finally, Howard believes that new head coach Brady Hoke is the man that Michigan needs to lead their football program…

“He (Rich Rodriguez) wasn’t a good fit,” Howard said. “It’s not that he wasn’t a good guy or a good coach. (But) Brady Hoke is a great fit for the program. He’s exactly what we need. He’s coached there before. He knows the landscape. He knows what it takes to compete in the Big Ten.”
