Eagles close out non-conference schedule with 75-61 loss to UMass

Eagles guard J.R. Sims had 12 points as Eastern Michigan fell to the UMass Minutemen 75-61 in the final non-conference game of the season.

Aside from Sims, Jamell Harris (1o points) and Glenn Bryant (11 points) were the only other Eagle players to get into double figures Saturday afternoon.

As a collective whole Eastern shot 23-of-53 (43.4 percent) from the field which included a 6-of-15 (40 percent) showing from beyond the arc. The Eagles were also able to win the battle of the boards getting 35 rebounds to UMass’ 30. However 20 total turnovers by EMU accounted for 28 total UMass points.

Eastern now enters the MAC schedule 7-7 with the in-conference schedule starting Wednesday against Ball State from the Convocation Center.
