Eastern Michigan is entering unfamiliar territory… a winning record.

Currently the Eagles are 4-3 and two victories away from ensuring themselves of a .500 record. However with three more wins, they would secure their first winning record since the 1995 season when they went 6-5. This is according to the Detroit News.

That journey starts this weekend when they take on in-state rival Western Michigan from Rynearson Stadium.

“It’s a trophy game, and the players know it,” said English, whose team was 0-12 his first year in 2009 and 2-10 last season. “We expect a lot of excitement for this game.”

What’s also more exciting for the Eagles is they can also become bowl eligible, something that hasn’t happened for Eastern since 1987.

Eastern Michigan is ranked 15th in the nation for rushing averaging 229.1 yards per game.

The Ron English investment for Eastern finally seems to be paying off.
