For Michigan, it’s apparently all about offering more than just football to potential commitments. At least that was the appeal to 2018 four-star tight-end Mustapha Muhammad who committed to Michigan Friday night according to 247 Sports.

Among that extra appeal that Michigan provided for Muhammad included (via 247):

  • Business School
  • TE Usage in Offense
  • NFL Pipeline
  • Large Muslim Population
  • Connections
  • Great dining hall
  • Jordan Uniforms

The number 47 prospect in ESPN’s top 300 also held offers from Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA and USC.

“Michigan is a very different, special place for me,” Muhammad said. “It is the closest thing I can think of to a perfect fit. The environment, family vibe, coaching staff, pro-style system, connection for post grad, NFL pipeline, nearby mosques and very large Muslim population in the surrounding areas of Michigan, the culture, the fans — the team, the team, the team — are all reasons I am a Wolverine.”

A native of Texas, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound Muhammad is the 15th commitment for Michigan’s 2018 class that currently ranks 13th in the Nation according to 247. Muhammad also lists now as the second best prospect in Michigan’s ’18 class just behind four-star guard Emil Ekiyor out of Indianapolis.
