The Big Ten East is on the line today for No. 3 Michigan as they travel south to take on arch rival (2) Ohio State today from Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
A win for Michigan will propel the Wolverines into the Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis while a win for the Buckeyes could potentially put Ohio State into the finals against the Big Ten West winner. Currently the Buckeyes are 7-1 in the Big Ten (like Michigan) but hold a loss against Penn State who would need only a win against Michigan State and a Michigan loss to punch their ticket to Indianapolis.
Meanwhile today’s game could have big ramifications on the College Football playoff picture as well. A two loss team without at extra win will be hard to put into the four team playoff once those rankings are decided after the championship games across the country have been played. As it stands now there are 10 teams in the Nation with two losses and two (aside from the top four in Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson) who have one loss or less in Washington and Western Michigan.
