Michigan and UCLA announce future home-and-home football series

Thursday Michigan and UCLA announced a future football home-and-home series between the two teams which will begin in 2022.

According to Bruce Feldman of CBS, the Wolverines will host the first of the two meetings on September 10th, 2022 while the Bruins will play host the following season at the Rose Bowl on September 2nd, 2023.

If the two teams do not meet at any future bowl games until the first meeting in 2022 it would be the first game between Michigan and UCLA since the Bruins beat the Wolverines 23-20 back in 2000. Michigan though holds an 8-3 advantage in the overall series while falling 24-14 to UCLA in the 1983 Rose Bowl and winning 33-14 in the Bluebonnet Bowl.

“This home-and-home series is one we believe fans of both universities, and fans of college football at the national level, will enjoy immensely,” said UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero on Thursday via the team’s official website. “We’re excited to face a quality opponent such as Michigan.”

This also marks the first home-and-home series for Michigan against a Pac-12 team since Washington (2001-02) and Oregon (2003, 2007).
