John Beilein and the Michigan Basketball program netted a huge catch on the recruiting trail Wednesday when four-star forward Colin Castleton out of Florida verbally committed to the Wolverines.

Castleton – whose been Michigan’s radar – bumps the program’s 2018 recruiting class to second in the country according to 247 Sports with five total commitments which is the most out of the top five teams. This includes four-star forwards Ignas Brazdeikis of Canada and Brandon Johns of East Lansing, plus four-star Detroit point guard David DeJulius.

The 6-foot-11, 215-pounder from Father Lopez Catholic in Daytona Beach, Castleton averaged 23.3 points, 11 rebounds and 5.4 blocks per game, according to the News-Journal (via the Detroit Free Press).

“I liked the feel, the culture and the coaching staff. Coach (John) Beilein doesn’t lie; he’s straightforward,” Castleton told the News-Journal. “He didn’t promise me any playing time or anything like that, but the players are all great.”

Nationally, Castleton ranks in at 117th in the 247Sports composite, and 70th according to Scout. In terms of position, the Florida native comes in at No. 30 in the country for power forwards while Scout has him at 20th overall.
