Michigan projected to be a No. 3 seed after win over Michigan State

What a week it’s been for the Wolverines…

After an embarrassing loss to the hapless Penn State Nittany Lions last week, Michigan returned Sunday to edge out bitter rival Michigan State 58-57 from Crisler. And it certainly was a gutty performance by the Wolverines who have looked out of sync for the last month but were still able to overcome a late surge by the Spartans to hold on for the win.

Still though, despite Sunday’s win over a good Michigan State team the Wolverines felt the affect of their loss to Penn State dropping three spots to No. 7 in The Associated Press’ latest Top 25 poll. Michigan also fell to No. 8 in the USA Today coaches poll.

Michigan too is also projected to a No. 3 seed once the NCAA Tournament gets underway. CBSsports.com’s Jerry Palm has Michigan a three seed entering the big dance and opening things up at the Palace of Auburn Hills while ESPN’s Joe Lunardi also has Michigan as a No. 3 seed.

The Wolverines will close out their regular season Wednesday when they travel down to West Lafayette to take on Purdue before playing host to Indiana on Sunday.
