Well it may not have been the most ideal circumstance for Michigan but they’re in… sorta when it comes to the NCAA Tournament.

Wednesday night in Dayton, Michigan will take part in the one of the First Four games squaring off against Tulsa. The winner will earn the right as an 11th seed to go on and play No. 6 Notre Dame in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament.

Now whether or not you believe the First Four is actually the NCAA Tournament is an argument for a different day. Either way you really can’t deny where Michigan was placed heading into Wednesday. Michigan was a bubble team and probably out if they didn’t make an impact in the Big Ten Tournament.

And they certainly made an impact.

If it wasn’t for Kam Chatman’s three with basically no time left on the clock to take down Indiana, Michigan is probably playing in the NIT instead of the First Four. A win over Purdue probably would have gotten Michigan into the Round of 64 without having to go through Dayton first but what’s done is done.

So since Michigan can only play the hand they’re dealt, lets take a look at the possible road for the Wolverines when it comes to going from the First Four to the Final Four.
