Michigan Women defeats Georgia Tech in triple-OT for WNIT title

Michigan junior point guard Katelynn Flaherty led the way with 27 points while Hallie Thorne added 25 as the Wolverines outlasted Georgia Tech in triple-OT for a 89-79 win in the WNIT Championship Game.

Down 67-61 late in regulation, Flaherty hit two deep three pointers to knot that game at 67 with just over 10 seconds left in the game. Georgia Tech’s Elo Edeferioka had a chance to give GT the win with seconds remaining after being fouled on a jumper from the free-throw line but she missed both attempts after making 71.4 percent of her attempts though out the season.

The Wolverines went on to outscore Georgia Tech 13-3 in the third overtime to become the 20th different WNIT Champion in the 20-year history of the Tournament.
