How SWEET 16 it is!

Michigan punched their ticket to the round of 16 Saturday afternoon with a very impressive and convincing 78-53 win over Shaka Smart and the Virginia Commonwealth Rams from the Palace.

Mitch McGary was an absolute monster in this game scoring points, setting nice screens and bounding the glass very well. He finished with 21 points, 14 rebounds and continues to make John Beilein look very good after inserting him into the starting lineup against South Dakota State on Thursday. Trey Burke also had a nice bounce back game (scoring wise) netting 18 points and 7 assists. Glenn Robinson III and Tim Hardaway, Jr. each had 14 points as Michigan also made VCU’s havoc defense look pretty tamed.

And speaking Tim Hardaway Jr., the junior guard laid down a sick reverse dunk that put an exclamation point on the Wolverine victory.

Michigan will now play the winner of the Kansas/North Carolina game which takes place tomorrow.
