After months of speculation that five-star power forward out of New Hampshire Mitch McGary was leaning towards the Maize and Blue, Michigan fans finally got their confirmation Thursday.

The talented forward McGary announced that he would commit to the University of Michigan for the 2012 season. Other than Michigan McGary was also mulling over offers from Duke and the University of Florida.

McGary joins Lake Central (Ind.) High School small forward Glenn Robinson III and St. Mark’s (Mass.) shooting guard Nick Stauskas in coach John Beilein’s 2012 recruiting class. McGary is also the highest rated recruit to commit to the Wolverines since LaVell Blanchard in 1999.

On top of all the hoopla surrounding the McGrady commitment to Michigan, McGrady himself said he would “like to bring a national championship to Michigan next year”.

The Wolverines certainly have a recruiting class that can make some noise going into next season. It seems as though the consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament are finally paying off for Beilein’s squad.
