Despite giving up a late lead Saturday night, Andy Murray and the Western Michigan Broncos closed out a tough two-week road schedule with a 2-2 tie Saturday night and a shootout win at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Saturday.

The Broncos who are 3-0-3, 1-0-1 in the CCHA picked up five of six possible conference points Saturday had they not of given up a two goal lead in the third period.

“You take a look at what we’ve faced in the last two weekends in New York and then a trip to the other side of North America up to Alaska, it’s put a lot of stress on the bodies,” Murray explained. “Our guys battled here tonight. We battled and we found a way to get it done.

“You have to be pleased with five out of six points. I don’t think there’s a lot of other teams that will come up here and get that point total in Fairbanks. They’re a good team. They’ve hosted playoff games up here the last three years because they’re tough to beat here.”

Western Michigan was able to kill four penalties against them however they were unable to convert on eight power play chances.

An area for concern though for the Broncos is face offs which WMU won just 29 of 75 face off attempts Saturday.
