Michigan State got some good news from their head coach on Monday as Mark Dantonio announced that the team was still relatively healthy with one more week left to go in camp.

The Spartans will finish out camp on Thursday as they take part in one final rehearsal scrimmage at Spartan Stadium where they will deal primarily with special teams.

The injuries they do have appear to be minor, including those to center candidate Travis Jackson who has a bit of an ankle problem. Top ranked recruit Lawrence Thomas will also be out for another week with a sprained shoulder.

Dantonio said lost time will impact when Thomas gets back on the field…

“When he was on the field he showed a lot of promise,” he said. “He has lost a lot of time and we will not play him just to say he’s been in a game. He is too valuable of a commodity to waste. So when he is ready to play — if that’s the third game, he will play. If it’s not until next year, then that is what we will do.”
