Unlike New Mexico basketball coach Steve Alford, Michigan State head football coach Mark Dantonio doesn’t plan to ban his players from using social networking websites like Twitter and Facebook, however he is warning them of the pitfalls that could come with sharing certain things with the rest of the world.

“But I do want them to know when you put something on there, you are representing Michigan State. I don’t want to stop them, but I want them to understand they represent all of us.

“They think they are talking to a buddy, but they are talking to you guys, everybody. What they say is a reflection on us all, and they have to understand that.”

Dantonio currently doesn’t have a Twitter account like his boss Mark Hollis who uses it extensively. Dantonio did however get himself a Facebook page.

“I have 35 friends,” he said and laughed. “This is the world we live in, but I still think you have to keep the lion in the cage on this.”
