Michigan State is heading into the upcoming season with a very strong front four which should help them contend for another Big Ten title.

David Goricki of the Detroit News writes that one of those guys emerging to be the  anchor of that starting front four is 6-foot-7, 275-pound junior end Tyler Hoover.

Goricki sheds some light on this by highlighting Hoover’s impressive game last season against Northwestern where he had nine tackles, including two sacks and a forced fumble.

“I had some great games in the middle of the season, and I just want to work on being more consistent,” Hoover said Tuesday. “I feel I’m more educated where I’m able to react faster to make plays. I want to play every game with a high motor.”
Michigan State had a total of 20 sacks last season and Hoover as well as the rest of the defense knows that if they want to be successful again this season they have to get the QB more…
“It’s going to be a race to the quarterback,” Hoover said. “Our interior line looks huge. The quarterback’s not going to be able to step up in the pocket because of the push inside, and then once it (pocket) collapses the ends will be right there.

“And we have depth up front, too, and that’s a big reason we’re maturing as a team, making us a good program.”
