Michigan State may be No. 1 come Monday after tonight’s win against South Utah

Michigan State

Michigan State may have a date with the No. 1 ranking in the country after tonight’s 88-63 win over Southern Utah.

Not that Southern Utah is a draw that’ll get voters turning their heads. They’re not and the Spartans did exactly what everyone thought they would do, win decisively over a team of lesser talent.

What could propel the Spartans to the top spot in the country is top seeded Duke falling to Boston College and the No. 2 team Kansas losing to Washington last Wednesday.

Of course a top seed in the beginning of December is hardly worth getting excited about, needless to say it’s good to see the Spartans playing well and winning games.

And as far as tonight goes, Miles Bridges, Jaren Jackson and Nick Ward each had 17 points to lead all scorers. Meanwhile Cassius Winston continues to shoot the lights out going five-for-six in his three-point attempts moving his season average to 61-percent. That’s a huge improvement over the 39 percent he managed last year.
