Michigan State received news Monday evening that Rockwood and Carlson High School lineman Kodi Kieler had decided to verbally commit to the Spartans for the 2012 season.

Kieler, a 6-foot-6, 307-pound lineman received a scholarship offer today from the school and later called the Michigan State coaches to tell them he would accept the offer.

“Just being from Michigan and always watching them, and it’s close to home and my mom can come watch the games and everyting,” Keiler told 247sports.com. “They won the Big Ten championship last year, which is awesome and hopefully they’ll win more when I play there.”

A three-star recruit according to Scout.com, Kieler is the 14th recruit to commit to Michigan State and the third offensive lineman. Kieler had other Big Ten offers on the table from Minnesota and Purdue as well as MAC offers on the table from Western Michigan and Central Michigan.
