Western Michigan’s season ends with loss to Wisconsin at the Cotton Bowl

Cotton Bowl

Western Michigan was denied an undefeated season this afternoon after a 24-16 loss to No. 8 Wisconsin at the Cotton Bowl.

Broncos quarterback Zach Terrell went 16/28 for 157 yards, one touchdown and one interception however the Badgers ground game came up big early getting to the end zone in each of their first two drives of the game.

However it was that one touchdown pass from Terrell to Corey Davis with 3:27 left in the game that gave the duo 51 total career TD connections tying an FBS record. Furthermore despite the loss, the season will undoubtedly be viewed as a success especially after the Broncos endured a one-win season just three short years ago in 2013.

Under PJ Fleck, the Broncos have been given a foundation to build off of despite the impending losses of Terrell, Davis and possibly their head coach if he’s lured away by a bigger program.

Nonetheless Western Michigan will run the gauntlet early next season taking on USC to begin the season before traveling to East Lansing to face off against Michigan State.
