It may not have been exactly how Brady Hoke pictured his debut as Michigan head coach but I’m sure he’ll take in nonetheless.
In a game that was called with 1:27 in the third quarter due to severe weather moving through the Ann Arbor area, Michigan came out on top with a final score of 34-10.
Despite the comfortable lead at the end, Michigan came out looking shaky when Western Michigan QB Alex Carder was able to lead the Broncos down field and score on their first possession.
Michigan was able to come back on the ensuing possession to tie the game at 7 after Fitz Toussaint was able to pound the ball in from the one-yard line.
Michigan took a 20-10 lead into half time and when they came out in the second half it seemed as though they got their defensive problems under control for the day.
After safety Jordan Kovacs flattened Carder forcing a fumble, Brandon Herron was able to pick up the ball and return it for a touchdown giving the Wolverines a 27-10 lead. Michigan later extended their lead after developing a running game that didn’t really include quarterback Denard Robinson. Toussaint was able to break a 43 yard run and after an incomplete pass Michael Shaw found a seem for a 44 yard touchdown run giving Michigan a 34-10 lead and eventually the victory.
